DEFUND POLITICS

PLATFORM 2026

I am now an independent candidate, and one who has no particular party preference (NPP) either way. The two-party system is failing us.

We are fast approaching the point where Congress exists as little more than a formality to legitimize outcomes dictated by the president, the speaker of the House and the Senate majority leader...

This is why I credit my involvement in the Neighborhood Council System as the purest form of government, reaffirming that all politics are local, and that through our volunteer status we will continue to create a thriving community with its flourishing, vibrant and diverse neighborhoods.

Most Americans are not rigidly partisan and do not feel well represented by either of the two major parties. In fact, the parties have become more partisan because they are catering to fewer people, as Americans are rejecting party affiliation in record numbers.

No matter your circumstance, I’m asking you to join me in rejecting these loyalties and rhetoric that divide and dehumanize us. If we continue to take America for granted, we will lose it.

Anti-corruption laws go unenforced by the Federal Elections Commission, hopelessly mired in gridlock and unwilling to do its job while BOTH parties embrace an ever-increasing political arms race.

This is obscene and certainly the reason why Congress has an 18% approval rating. Its 92% incumbent re-election rate makes a sham of our democracy too.

Enough is enough. America’s democracy is collapsing and we all have to do whatever we can, no matter how big or small, to save it from complete ruin.

Donald Trump is not only the worst president in American history, he is the worst person in American history. His own vice president has called him an American Hitler.

His is the most openly corrupt administration in our history because he believes himself to be immune to wrongdoing. He is selling out our country to the highest bidder while he threatens our institutions, kills protesters, separates families, and imprisons journalists as well as those who don’t bend a knee to him.

All he cares about is money and self-enrichment, putting his name on things that don’t belong to him, and being handed prizes while he wages war on his own country!

In the 1980s the middle class made up 2 thirds of this country. Now it is at its nadir in the low 40 percentile.

Trump claims the economy is in good shape. However, the reality is that the richest 10% of the country controls 93% of the stock market. We know what affordability is or isn’t because we know what we see with our own eyes. We know tariffs are a tax on the American people, while he showers the rich with tax breaks they don’t need. "Affordability" is a hoax to the rich because they've always been able to afford everything. Nothing is UNAFFORDABLE.

Taking advantage of the atrocities in Israel and Palestine, along with the war in Ukraine has only been political calculation or monetary gain that Trump determines is in his best interest that rules his decision making. Military draw-down and permanent ceasefires are a necessity. I will not vote to  support arms funding for Israel, but will continue to vote for Ukrainian support. I will never support illegal wars.

Furthermore Trump's cruel immigration policy has gone against every decent American principle and is nothing citizens approve of by any measure or polling data we’ve seen. AND it's unconstitutional!

He lied about Project 2025 during the election. So it cannot be said it is what people voted for, or what most people wanted for our country. 165 million people DID NOT vote for him!

We need to take drastic measures in order to save us from further peril, and this is what distinguishes me from the others in this race who will not take a similar stand.

I will not ask for money. None. Not a single penny. This seems to be what is needed to rebuild the trust we’ve lost in our elected officials. It must be shown we reject lobbying, unlimited corporate Super Pac corruption, and an oligarchy of the elite Epstein Class Trump has allowed to bribe their way into our politics. Congress and the Supreme Court need term limits.

Whether you think there should be such thing as a billionaire or not, we need to be mature enough to engage in the conversation today. Economists like Thomas Pinketty who ascribe the health of our democracy upon a progressive tax that necessarily decreases income and wealth disparity, seems obvious as a solution to our economic inequity and imbalance.

I believe we need to regulate, outlaw, or otherwise call for a moratorium on Artificial General Intelligence, or Super Intelligence, and the building of monstrous data centers that threaten our humanity and environment. We need this before Big Tech allows the human race’s annihilation the same way it allowed society’s downfall with social media’s utter abject betrayal of decency, by algorithms putting profit over people.

Can you imagine what autonomous weapons will do when in the hands of a psychopath steadfast in pursuit of an agenda of retribution?

I believe we must promote support and advance a boycott of the World Cup, and the 2028 Olympics, at least from a diplomatic standpoint. I will suggest going back to Paris and London in 2028, and postponing Los Angeles until 2032. We cannot put a happy face on American authoritarianism, and allow Trump to call it anything but his failure and ruin.

Donald Trump must be held accountable for his crimes, and what he’s done to this great country of ours, so that we can ensure we will never make such an electoral catastrophic mistake again.

We must reject the corporate, corrupt, career politicians and elect a breed of candidates to forge a new altruism and spur the renaissance of America’s promise once again.

Good Luck,

Doug Smith.
